Professional, Elevated, New Images, Solidified Solo

This show has paintings that were made from December last year, and one from mid year 2025. The physical grounding of the images in this show are an attempt to recreate the online sphere of images in a material environment. Examining the construction of online identity through the categorisation of banal imagery and photography, we find points of connection with contemporary data collection studies, while also being directed to an interest in a randomised imagery aesthetic. When examining visual image culture through edited imagery, the work shows the integration of technology and artistic process in forming a relationship with our own personal interpretations of reality.

Grounding these snapshots of both historical painting tropes and the seemingly banal and extensive archive of online media, new pathways are formed to understand the contemporary hybridisation of images. Simple and restrained applications of physical media relays importance on the subject of the image itself, its recontextualised space, form or sculptural point it has been transferred to. Professional, Elevated, New Images, Solidified further explores the contemporary flow of images. I considered bad taste and good taste, and how It was important to showcase low art in image selection when exploring the full scope of contemporary image making. Other things I was thinking about include galleries in California, Mountains, Paris, Madrid, Wilhelm Sasnal, Ed Ruscha, Basketball, Silver, and I think that’s it.
